Perception & Aspirations
I see myself to be a well motivated individual, who has always found it easy to fit into any team that I have been a part of. I also spend a fair amount of my time partaking in self guided study to expand on areas that I already have skills and experience, or to learn new skills that I feel will be of use in the future.
I enjoy working in ICT support in education and the challenges it bring in terms of integrating technology with teaching and learning. My career so far has allowed me to implement and develop many new tools to make the educational experience both easier and more interesting for student and educator alike.

Skills & Experience
During my time working in ICT support I have developed and refined a large number of skills specific to supporting schools. This includes everything from server configuration and domain administration to desktop support and MIS management. Additionally I have rolled out a number of new systems including a very effective VLE at my primary workplace whilst also supporting the roll out of another VLE at a partner school.
I have a good working knowledge of all versions of Windows desktop and server operating systems, as well as some knowledge of other operating systems such as MS-DOS, UNIX / Linux and more recently MacOS. I am proficient in Microsoft Office, SIMS and other desktop software packages, as well as specialist audio and video tools such as Adobe Premiere, Cubase and Sony ACID. In addition to my server / desktop experience I have experience in a number of programming languages, including: Java, Visual BASIC, HTML, Java-Script, PHP, CSS and ASP.NET.
Working as part of a team that has managed a school infrastructure I have accumulated an array of technical experience, together with a strong understanding of how to manage and support these systems in an education environment. This is coupled with good problem solving and diagnostic skills as well as a drive for improvement. I feel I have maintained steady CPD progression keeping up to speed with new developments in existing areas such as SIMS, but also exploring new areas such as Chromakey and iPads.

Hobbies & Interests
My interest in computers goes much further than simply my education and working life. I would consider myself to be a very keen gaming enthusiast who for the past 7 years has been a member of a gaming team in Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. This MMORPG is the first I have played, and have enjoyed it thoroughly, previous to this game; I spent most of my gaming hours playing strategy games, including many multi-player competitions.
Away from computers, I have a very keen interest in music and movies, as well as keeping fit through hiking and cycling. When the opportunity arises I also like to spend time out and about with my friends, going for a drink in the local pub, or nights out in Chesterfield from time to time. I also enjoy going bowling with my friends for a little bit of friendly competition.
